Moosa! The Cree word for moose rolls off your tongue with a visual image of a huge black forest critter - horns wider than canoe paddles and steam billowing out of his nostrils. Whether found wading in secluded water-lily ponds, silently sneaking through dense black timber or effortlessly running through waste-deep snow - moose offer a great hunting challenge. Every sportsman should experience the excitement of matching wits with the monarch of the forest.

Saskatchewan moose are big and brawny. Recent winters have been mild and moderate hunting pressure allows the bulls to get - big and brawny! We are talking well over forty inch racks, with fifty inches not being unreasonable. Our moose numbers are very strong. The area in which we hunt moose is so huge, we never work more than a small area of our allocated game management zone (GMZ 69). We spend a lot of time in our area so we know where moose live. We have found the special spots where they prefer to hang out year after year. We know their feeding areas and where they like to cross muskegs, clear-cuts and meadows.

If you are interested in meat, bring a BIG cooler because you will be returning with several hundred pounds of the best eating wild meat on the planet. Eating all that meat won't be a problem as very few people will turn down an opportunity to share your good fortune. By far your biggest challenge will be deciding where the rack or mounted head can be hung. Pick a spot with lots of clearance!

Northern Pine Outfitters has an enviable reputation for finding excellent moose for our clients. We employ a variety of successful hunting methods including calling, still hunting, spot and stalk and cruising favoured areas on a variety of ATV's.
